Management This department is comprised of the General Manager and the Program Director. More often than not, these are the two most senior members of the executive staff and are responsible for the overseeing of basically all of the station's managerial duties. The General Manager typically has the most experience with the station and is mostly responsible for guiding and organizing the rest of the executive staff, yet is also responsible for monitoring the well-being of the station as a whole. The Program Director has more specific responsibilities, which include determining the broadcasting schedule, organizing general staff meetings, monitoring attendance, and maintaining correspondence with DJs. Music Department Music Director: The Music Director has the responsibility of contacting and maintaining relationships with college radio promoters, sending weekly airplay charts to the College Music Journal (www.cmj.com), reviewing new music and adding it into the rotation system, and making creative decisions regarding what music the station wants to feature. Technical Department A strong Technical Department is fundamental to WXBC’s smooth operation. Aside from shouldering the responsibility of maintaining and fixing the equipment, the Technical Directors must possess, or aspire to possess a complete knowledge of all of the technical components of a radio station and be able to train future directors. This position preferably requires substantial prior knowledge and a willingness to take on new and sometimes very challenging engineering tasks.
